God calls us to this:
God desires for us to resist our human tendencies in which the world affirms. He wants us to be AUTHENTIC. It is common for us, as humans, to communicate in a way that can hinder authentic growth in relationships. It is easy to put on a "face" and let the real self stay protected and hidden. God calls us away from that! He desires an openness, with Him and each other, that is authentic and raw. It can be easy to forget that He knows all anyway. When we are not "all-in" with God, we miss out on a full blessing. (1 Timothy 2:3-5)
Think about your closest friendships. If you did not invest and be authentic with your friends, would that relationship be strong? Probably not. If you were not honest and real with them, would there be trust? Probably not. To be truly authentic, you must be willing to embrace the good and bad in your self (1 John 1:8-10) and let God embrace you with His ALL-encompassing Love. By doing this, He will teach you to be like Him. He is the origin of who we are. He is the true LOVE we must emulate. (1 John 2:6)
As you strive to emulate our God's kindness and love, be free and to let His spirit flow through your worship. Believe your Authentic worship is from the heart and is not concerned with who sees how it shows up. When you worship this way, your focus is only on Jesus. This kind of worship welcomes joy, awe, excitement, energy, peace, reflection, release, contemplation, forgiveness, love and much more. Worshipping God with all that you truly are will create a trust that cannot be broken.
